Fix it in post with

none of the hassle!

Services Include:

  • Script Sync

I’m incredibly fast at script sync. I can customize to any editor preference. I was a part of a team of 4 that got a full feature scripted in a week!

  • Dailies

I’ve been a dailies AE for a couple of seasons. This is a position I think all shows should have. It’s best as a swing shift role, that will get dailies ready before the editor starts and takes away some of the heavy load assistant editors have.

  • Special Assignments

Mistakes happen, preferences change and sometimes you don’t have the time or the personnel to deal with it. I can come in, help with the issue and everyone else can stay on track.

  • Substitutions

The pandemic has taught us that nothing is certain. People get sick, they have a death in the family, or a wedding to go to. Let your team have work life balance. I’ve come in to shows multiple times to help out in these situations. You get a great substitute and your team member gets to come back to find nothing out of place.

  • VFX

I’ve been dabbling as a VFX AE and I love it. Can’t say I can make any kind of final VFX, but my temps are really good. I mostly work in avid but can do some After Effects if needed.

  • Migration

This is the most dreaded task in all of post. You have a project in one software but the new editor wants to use something else. Sometimes it means redoing all the dailies, or even re-transcoding all the footage. Worry not! I’ll take the time to make sure your project gets migrated correctly.

Marian Jiménez

Originally from Costa Rica, I went to RISD for a BFA in Film, Animation & Video. I started my career in the film industry in NYC, working for Sesame Workshop on their reboot of The Electric Company. After using up my OPT visa, I went back to school in LA and obtained an MFA at AFI. During the last year of college, I worked part-time on reality shows, gaining valuable troubleshooting experience. It's a place where you must wear many hats and please various departments simultaneously.

With this wealth of knowledge, I finally transitioned to scripted TV and feature films. I continued to learn more workflow optimizing skills with automation and other hacks. However, it took me a while to realize that I might not actually want to fulfill my "lifelong" dream of editing; instead, I discovered a preference for the no-nonsense simplicity of technical work.

Then the pandemic shook things up in the work world. Remote work became the norm and a lot of people started to rethink their priorities. Long hours and time away from family are not cutting it anymore, and everyone wants more flexibility. But in industries where deadlines are non-negotiable, it's tough to find that flexibility. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, exploring ways to provide it for myself and others.

For the last two years, I've been working as a substitute/additional assistant on various projects, and I've gotta say, it's been a huge success. When assistants had to take time off, I was able to jump in and keep things running smoothly. From fixing messy metadata to handling turnovers, dailies, and even cutting scenes, I can handle anything thrown my way. With my home system, I can work remotely and respond quickly to any project needs, with no delay nor big extra costs to the production.

My goal is to make the substitution process as simple and stress-free as possible for everyone involved. I'm all about teamwork, and I'm open to collaborating with post crews to figure out the best solution. I'm currently looking for remote jobs starting right away, so if you or anyone you know needs a pinch-hitter, hit me up!

  • For now it’s just me, Marian Jiménez! I’m an experienced and Media Composer certified Assistant editor. I love doing all the technical jobs others don’t like. I’ve had the pleasure of working with many post teams in various capacities, and look forward to working with you.

  • Anything you need! No, really, I’m open to all jobs post related. I’m very honest upfront about my skills and ability. I also have a vast network so if I don’t feel up to the job I might be able to recommend someone else.

  • I’m very capable with Avid Media products. I can work my way around most other editing software, like Adobe Premiere Pro and FCP (my first job was all FCP, but haven’t used it recently). I’m fairly good with Photoshop and After Effects. I can’t create intense things from scratch, but I can work very well with templates and small VFX.
